Nicky Nelson (Bob Hope) is a scruffy carnival shopper who waits and hopes for his big chance. By exploiting the musical talents of his girlfriend Lily Racquet (Shirley Ross), he tries to earn enough to put on a big theater show. The pursuit of money goes to Nicky's head, causing him to lose his girl. Will he be able to win her back?
