The beginning doesn't bode well at all, with a close-up of a bleeding chicken slowly disappearing behind the opening titles. A metaphor, of course, but nonetheless unpleasant to watch and totally superfluous. The character Farfat is quite hysterical, and combined with the Arabic language, it was a real struggle for me to sit through the film. To my regret, I did so anyway and got to witness a highly bizarre scene. I am referring to the house cat that is grabbed by the tail during the heated argument and swung around like a weapon. The fact that the cat is put back on its feet and goes on its way with a single meow does not detract from that, as far as I am concerned. 1 star.
