Quite tragic that an actress like Michelle Pfeiffer appears in quite a lot of bad to mediocre films. This is another example of that.
A weak, chaotic film that tries in vain to be funny. The only one to pass is Saoirse Ronan as Michelle's daughter Izzy.
Only to be viewed at times when you are bored to death.

Meh.
It's that it doesn't last very long and the lack of drama is quite refreshing, but otherwise this is not the type of film that appeals to me. Pfeiffer has little work and Rudd seems faint as a young heartthrob.
The addition of "mother nature" is a big miss, the humor is often not that nice and the world in which Pfeiffer lives is a bit too easy to shit. But otherwise it is a sunny film and Sarah Alexander does not get too much chance to throw a spanner in the works. Fortunately, dramatic arc lasts very short.
It's the best Heckerling I've ever seen, although that doesn't mean too much. Too fluffy, too much high school stuff, even in this movie.

Phew.
Hollywood is once again doing introspection with this umpteenth film playing on the set. Oh it's about a third-rate TV series, then it's okay, that's what the makers must have thought - what a weakness again.
Still, there are some nice scenes, there's plenty of talent hidden somewhere, and the idea that Pfeiffer's generation is making way for Ronan's generation works well. Maybe even a good idea actually. Ronan is also great with her parody of Spears and Morrisette. And I can tolerate 'mother nature'. What really finishes it off for me is the recap at the end. Just to rub in that the public is seen as an Alzheimer's patient.
