North Korea is one of the most closed countries in the world, hardly any information reaches us about life within the borders of this last purely communist state. If anything from images made it to the Western media, it was either official state broadcasts or clandestine recordings. It is therefore a very exceptional privilege that Daniel Gordon's team received: they were allowed to follow the lives of two young girls from high school undisturbed for 8 months. Pak Hyon Sun, 13, and Kim Song Yun, 11, are gearing up for the annual Mass Games, an unparalleled mass spectacle in honor of Kim Jong-Il.
