Reeker plot
"If you can't breathe, you can't scream"
A group of students is on their way to a rave in the middle of the desert. When their car suddenly breaks down, they are forced to spend the night in an abandoned motel. They soon find out that this place is a refuge for something that is somewhere between life and death and they are unsure of their life there.

The clichés are nicely worked out, the characters are well filled in and put on firmly, the tension is built up well and the shock effects are nicely unexpected. Nice camera work, a great plot twist (so that's why the dealer/doctor kept appearing in between with different characters in the motel: to see "in real life" after the accident if he could still save them, and that's why he tried Gretchen too to kiss), good playing, always nice to see Michael Ironside and Eric Mabius, and all in all, a great fun for an hour and a half (and already several times). And I have not seen the earlier Dead end, so I have no reason to give Reeker less stars because of an "Aha-Erlebnis" : ****.

The director doesn't allow you to make this comment, but the title is just right. The movie stinks!
Payne has a nice concept here and actually shows what kind of bungler he is. Throughout the film you have no idea what is actually happening and only at the end everything is explained. If it had been worked out well, this would not have been a bad film. For eighty minutes, this is a very boring slasher. The characters do nothing to you and the film is mostly dark. I myself am disappointed that the role of Michael Ironside is nothing. His presence is reason enough for me to watch a movie, but that turned out to be quite dramatic here. The ending is interesting, but you shouldn't have to struggle through eighty minutes of shit for that.
