A group of young criminals from the Moorgate Young Offenders Institute are sent to an island for a week after one of them commits suicide. On the island, the group is left behind and the youngsters must try to survive. This is harder than it looks, as a mysterious hunter on the island tries to kill them.

Wilderness is a funny horror/thriller that knows how to alternate gore and tension. The choice for British criminals is especially funny, which makes for humorous and fresh moments without cliché whining.
It's a shame that the ending isn't up to par and that the film loses a lot of tension and originality.

The English are intriguing again and do not turn around. The fierceness is also increased because it concerns a group of criminals and not just a bunch of shit lice. On a remote island, they must save their skins when dogs and arrows are sent at them. This time there was also a clear reason for all the bloodshed; the way is quite bizarre but as revenge on his son I can accept it. A bit of a shame I found the arguing between the young people and Steve's crazy attitude. But otherwise a good casting, plenty of gore present and that dog head on the stick was fantastic.

Before I watched the movie, I thought it was another cheap movie. But nothing is less true. The location is perfect, on an island in the woods. The story may be a bit simple, but that doesn't make the film any less fun. The characters are well developed and have different characteristics, which is why the film is so good. Only the acting itself could be a bit better, especially the three women. The rest did okay. That accent was unbearable, but the film captivated me so much that I stopped paying attention to it at a certain point.
The atmosphere was good, also because the killer is not seen very often, actually only at the end. But the tension was also good because of the dogs. The chases were pretty good except for the first one. The gore was present, why is this movie 12+? Some other movies have less gore and they are 16+. But hey, what does it matter, now there is more audience for this beautiful film.
This is a very good movie. Location, gore, survival, everything I can appreciate is in it. The story is a bit too simple. The introduction may be there. Although I had a suspicion that the newcomer would survive.
