Bad Company, which focuses on a group of wandering young people, is an atypical western, but definitely worth watching. It is mainly Jeff Bridges who steals the show here as a curmudgeon (among a lot of other things). He is the opposite of Barry Brown, who certainly does a good job in this film. The strength of the film is the disagreement between the main characters and occasionally this causes the tension to run high. The presence of Jim Davis and Tom Huddleston, among others, also ensures that the acting is good in this very nice American western, which has quite a few strong and fun moments.

When the American Civil War broke out, many young people fled west to escape the draft. Drew Dixon is one of them; he joins Jake Rumsey's gang of thieves (mainly young people) and experiences poverty, hunger and joy with them. Rumsey is a born thief who thinks only of his own self-preservation, while Dixon is a well-bred Christian young man. This film is about the strange bond between them, which sometimes makes them allies, sometimes enemies. Nice to see, with a young Jeff Bridges as Rumsey, but otherwise not a film that really stands out from the western offering.

Good film about a young man who leaves home to avoid fighting during the American Civil War. A western setting, but certainly not a standard western (the tone is different for that). The harsh reality of being on the road in the Wild West. Good acting from a young Jeff Bridges and the prematurely deceased Barry Brown.
