A dark, somewhat somber, and rather brooding Norwegian film from the seventies that I struggled to get a grip on, not helped by inadequate subtitles. A young man in Oslo drops out of college, ends his relationship, and heads to the countryside to spend Christmas with his mother. On the train there, he meets a girl who turns out to live in the same village as his mother. They are clearly attracted to each other. His mother, a single widow, is happy with the arrival of her son. But it is also clear that she misses a man in her life. Gradually, an ambiguous love triangle develops, in which the man is more or less the prey. It is certainly intriguing, but we get virtually no idea what is going on inside the characters.
