Chinmoku plot
The events of 'Silence' are set in the early 17th century, when Protestant missionaries tried to pave the way for the church in the land of the rising sun. However, they are treated very inhospitably in Japan. Portuguese missionary Rodriguez arrives in Nagasaki not only to spread the Word of the Lord, but also for ex-missionary Ferrera who traveled to Japan 20 years ago with the same mission. However, Ferrera later mysteriously decided to abandon his faith. Rodriguez's risky venture leads to shocking revelations...
