Ninjo Kami Fusen plot
Japan, 18th century, during the Tokugawa rule. The story is set in a poor part of Tokyo, where downtrodden samurai live next to people from a lower social class. Matajuro, a samurai without a master (ronin) spends his days looking for work and his wife Otaki making paper balloons. When neighbor and hairdresser Shinza decides one rainy day to kidnap the daughter of a wealthy merchant and demand a ransom, he involves Matajuro and Shinza in his plan by hiding the young woman in their house.
