Forty Shades of Blue plot
Wealthy music producer Alan James lives with his much younger Russian girlfriend Laura, whom he met in a restaurant on the Mississippi. They have a three-year-old son. Alan is a music legend who produced black music in the 60s and 70s, the heyday of Memphis soul. Despite living comfortably, Laura feels lonely and isolated. Alan has a son from a previous marriage, Michael, whom he no longer has contact with. Michael is a freelance writer, married and living in Los Angeles. When Michael returns to Memphis for the first time in a long time, he initially disapproves of Laura's relationship with his father because of the age differences. Slowly but surely a painful and dangerous love affair develops between Michale and Laura. This relationship leads to a self-confrontation that will change her soul and life forever.
