Good movie, great special effects better than all cgi, just a shame Naughton doesn't play great (not bad but not really very good). Nice that you also see Simon van Collem (in the making-off he is much longer and more often in the picture than in the film itself ) 4*

One from Memory Lane that still works damn well. Quite a lot of these kinds of films from this period that I find cute at most, this one is a lot further. A bit droll, maybe a bit clumsy here and there, but because of that an airy atmosphere and that fits perfectly. Werewolves, after all, are often just silly beasts.

East Proctor and the pub are ideal locations to boot it up, after which Landis ranks higher and higher on individual scenes. The nightmares (especially the one with the Nazis is hilarious), the zoo and even a silly intermezzo like that of a game of darts on TV is laughter. The London Underground is again quite strong for other reasons and the transformation, well, tribute.

CCR's Bad Moon Rising is of course quite appropriate here, as the entire soundtrack consists of songs with the moon in their title. Nice detail, but it really becomes special when the stuff ends up in a cinema, someone on the silver screen says something and how Landis concludes his film. The latter certainly deserves a big thumbs up.

Hey, An American Werewolf is a horror as it should be and especially for early 80s concepts this is a hit! The plot is well liked, the jokes actually catch on and the special effects + make-up of the bloodthirsty werewolf are top notch. What a level!
