Yôtô Monogatari: Hana no Yoshiwara Hyakunin-giri plot
A successful textile baron from the province is admired by his staff for his kindness, but can't touch the woman because his face is disfigured by a birthmark. Even Yoshiwara's courtesans refuse to serve him. Tamarazu, a farm girl apprenticed to be a prostitute, dares to take the job and treats it with uncouth tenderness. When she jokingly says 'the scar isn't on his heart', the grateful businessman falls head over heels in love with her. Ultimately, he loses his fortune in his costly efforts to redeem her. When he finally sees through her betrayal and realizes that he has been destroyed, the man takes revenge.
