It has been a year since we saw this film and we still remember it well despite watching about 6 films a week.

We thought it was a nice film that perhaps didn't score on all points, but it turned out well overall. I briefly followed the discussion about the film in "messages" and found that both sides are far too concerned about the film's raison d'être.

You like to look at it or it's not your taste but then don't try to force someone else to like or dislike something.

And in our opinion, the movie is worth an eight, so pretty good!

Of the films I had yet to see off the top 250 list, this Swedish production was high on my wish list. The film did not disappoint me, but it will not leave a lasting impression on me. The plot revolves around a worn-out music virtuoso who seeks silence and returns to his remote hometown somewhere in northern Sweden. The physical and mental impact affected his health too much.

The question is what is real life: living in a closed-off small community where life goes on or pursuing and sustaining the hustle and bustle of a career in the midst of many people somewhere in a busy globalized city? The fact is that both worlds don't care much about each other. Daniel may also wonder if he retires to the bought-up school or if he gives singing lessons to the local choir with all its intrigue.

A number of interesting characters develop that Daniel intentionally and unintentionally comes into contact with. His presence creates certain vibes in the community that go beyond singing or music. And not everyone can deal with that or has a problem with their reputation crumbling because of the charismatic Daniel.

It is indeed all turned on firmly at times, but it didn't bother me. The final scenes are also in that vein. A lot of drama, but enjoyable and even presented honestly and naturally. Nice!

Sweeter than a sugar cake. If you see the poster with all smiling faces, you already know what kind of movie this will be. You are easily and masterfully carried away with the numerous soapy storylines about the different members of the choir group. This is also one of those formulas that always works with the audience (including me!): working towards a common goal with some personal problems in the background that need to be solved and optionally a budding gay or straight love story. Add to that some philosophy of life, melody and feel good and you have it all.

The result is successful and it is a pleasantly emotional film, but you feel a lot coming from a thousand miles away and that still keeps me from a high rating. Too much is being drawn from the same keg. Still, the top 250 listing surprises me as well as the high number of votes because this is absolutely not a well-known film or classic.
