Somersault plot
"Love can turn you upside down."
Heidi is 16 and looking for short-lived sexual encounters. She still lives with her mother, but she craves physical and emotional contact. She's running away from Canberra. She ends up in Jindabyne, where she meets Joe. Joe is the son of a wealthy farmer in the area. The relationship between the two is complex, but they are in love. Heidi forces Joe to think differently about social issues, sexuality and she also offers him a different view of his own future. In the light of other lives, Heidi sees that she is different. She discovers the power of forgiveness, she has underestimated herself, because she can do more than she ever imagined.
