The Mask plot

"Look through the mask...if you can't take it...take it off!"

An archaeologist believes that he has been cursed by an ancient mask and that he has murder tendencies as a result. The archaeologist kills himself, but first sends the mask to Dr. Barnes, who himself also falls under the spell of the nasty thing.
