Een Gelukkige Hand plot
A Happy Hand is partly a documentary about Peter van Straaten and partly a fictional story based on Van Straaten's Agnes. The film is based on the work of Peter van Straaten and, as a derivative of this, the way in which his work sheds light on interpersonal interactions and the resulting happiness and unhappiness: in married life, at work, in politics, in love, between parents and children. Documentary, drawings and drama are organically intertwined. In the documentary part we see Peter van Straaten closely followed in the Netherlands and Italy and his drawings and cartoons are discussed. The common thread is the fictional line, in which Agnes is breathed into life by Renee Fokker.
