"We, the people."
Mohan (Shah Rukh Khan) is a senior engineer at NASA on a satellite system that monitors rainfall worldwide: Global Precipitation Measurement. Still some time away from launching the new satellite, he returns to India in search of Kaveri (Kishori Balal), the woman who raised him earlier and whom he considers his second mother. He finds her in a remote village, where time seems to have stood still. At Kaveri he also runs into an old childhood friend Gita (Gayatri Roshi). Gita is a teacher. She tries to draw more attention to education, but the village elders are averse to innovation and attach particular importance to ancient traditions and their own culture.
