Every Time We Say Goodbye plot

"In a time and a world of impossible love, he would accept nothing less than everything."

An American pilot who joined the RAF before serving his country in the war has recovered from a leg wound in Jerusalem. Through an English friend, he meets a quiet Jewish girl whose family is originally from Spain. The two become attracted to each other but she is convinced that because of their different backgrounds it can never work; not only is he a Christian, his father is a protestant minister.

Romantic affair in Jerusalem about a complicated love between an American soldier and a Sephardi Jew. That was the first serious role with Tom Hanks but it was not a success, so I follow the average. The acting is weak, the love affair in which the lady plays hard to get for family reasons is sweet and dreary. The "Romeo and Juliet" comparison would certainly cover it if it weren't for the fact that the film doesn't make enough of an impression and couldn't move me emotionally. The film (perhaps the most unknown with Hanks) was a total flop at the time and Hanks had to wait for films like Philadelphia and Forrest Gump before he was really taken seriously in dramatic roles.
