Well, co-written and produced by Olen Ray indeed, but that doesn't come as much of a surprise when you see the film. The film can be described as a Halloween slasher. We (viewers) mainly follow the story surrounding young David Kelly (reasonably well played by Ryan Latshaw) who is bound by a sort of family curse: one of the ancestors buried an evil killer who manages to return as a pumpkin-headed figure.
During Halloween, he murders incessantly with his scythe, while hunting for Latshaw's character.
Running around there is a vague group with a descendant of the evil wizard who also wants to put an end to this horror.
Naturally, Linnea Quigley makes another appearance in such a film as the babysitter, who just had to include a nude shower scene that adds absolutely nothing to the movie. Furthermore, we see John Carradine appear as the evil wizard, and there are also cheesy fake movie clips in which we catch a split-second glimpse of Brinke Stevens.
Okay, the film is obviously amateurish in nature, but all in all, I was able to enjoy myself reasonably well with this attempt at a slasher spoof.
Not much better than Olen Ray's own stuff, but you know that in advance when you start this.
Incidentally, not the same film as the Jack O'Lantern available in the Netherlands.

A very messy slasher in which director Steve Latshaw cast his own young son in the lead role, with all the consequences that entailed. The level of acting is at times truly appalling, with many insincere emotions and cast members trying in vain to pretend they find it all very exciting. It is nice that the setting is occasionally depicted reasonably atmospherically and Jack-O's mask comes across as funny, but once the finale arrives, the events bog down into such an unimaginably messy mess that it has little effect left.
