The first Tarzan movie From RKO. They are still good and fun films in their own right.

What I found a bit strange was that Jane wasn't in it . I know O'Sullivan didn't feel like it (it also makes sense if you get bitten by a monkey with every movie), but I still think they could have looked for a successor back then.

There were also some bad scenes in it. An Elephant throwing a boulder on the side of the mountain with his trunk, causing a man to fall again.
Personally, I thought it was great that Cheetah impersonated Hitler.

The rest of the movie isn't bad and the movie just had good scenes. Like for example a man who tries to jump out of the plane but his parachute hits the wing of an airplane.

Frances Gifford did a good job and could have played Jane.

I can't say right now what my favorite Tarzan movie is. But at least not this one, although I don't think this one is bad either. So it gets a 3.0.

Tarzan vs the Nazis. In the war years there was less budget in the film world, some actors went to fight in the war and what was made anyway (especially in America) usually had the resonance of the war and American patriotism. So they let Tarzan fight the Nazis. Without Jane, because Tarzan moved from MGM to RKO and Jane (Maureen O'Sullivan) had a contract with MGM. So it is something different from the older Tarzan films and you will notice that. The level is just as high and resembles a teenage story. But with the Nazis and the violence, there is still a dark shadow over the film. I'm also not a fan of Boy, the son of Tarzan. The film does not have a bad story, although it is not very surprising. Not exactly the best Tarzan film, although the old Tarzan films have a nostalgic feeling for me and I never really think they are top films. Just like his contemporary Lassie, for example, a somewhat dated American hero who is iconic, but mainly because of the name and not the films.
