Even though director Daniel Farrands has nowadays gone down the path of B-crime/horror films, he used to deliver these types of broad and complete documentaries. The whole thing runs for 6 hours and 40 minutes, but that does not alter the fact that the viewing experience is very enjoyable. The films and associated series are completed one by one, with the actors, producers, writers and directors all doing their part. In principle, Crystal Lake Memories is a kind of long drawn-out trivia session for enthusiasts and not much more. Sometimes there could have been a little more structure in the interviews and we do not see some names such as Kevin Bacon and Barbara Sachs, but as a horror fanatic who has recently completed all parts of this series, this was a relaxing and educational experience that was never too long. sensed.

A misleading title, because this almost 4-hour documentary only includes the first six films and the series. Almost every member of the cast (Kevin Bacon and Crispin Glover are the major absentees) and key crew members have their say in this look back, narrated by Corey Feldman, at the series that was a financial cash cow for Paramount in the 1980s, despite the generally only negative reviews. The story behind the first film is especially interesting, especially because the rest of the series was mainly more of the same. Fans of the franchise will still enjoy this.
