Even though I wouldn't call myself a really big horror fan, British horror suits me best.

I also ended up with this film mainly because of the presence of Susan Penhaligon.

What a beauty.

Although Stephanie Beacham is of course not wrong either.

Glad you did, because this was a hit.

The first Peter Walker movie I saw I think.

Maybe I should look for more.

What a good cast!

Anthony Sharpe in particular knows how to convince as Father Meldrum, it gave me the shivers.

Brrr... what a creep.

And then that housekeeper, Miss Brabazon (Sheila Keith)

There are a number of incongruities in the film, but that should not spoil the macabre fun

A surprising ending to the movie too.

Walker's "nasties" aren't particularly exciting, but I find them scary.
They often touch on taboos, here the abuses of the church in the time when this was not yet or difficult to discuss. We now know better. A clear anti-celibacy stance is being taken. And the thought that your trust in a man of the church can be abused is creepy enough for a movie in itself. Also maid Ms Brabazon who abuses the priest's helpless mother also feels dirty (that is explained well at the end), especially now that we have already heard such stories in nursing homes and nurseries in the current affairs.
Shocking is definitely the intention and yes, I too am won over by this unexpected ending... Very good thriller.
