Weak turn from Ridley. With its reputation and these opening credits you might expect a brooding, atmospheric inner city thriller, but apart from a few steamy streets and alleys, little comes of it. What you get is a film made up of classical elements that gradually culminates in inanimate and sheepish melodrama between Jack and a stiff aunt from the upper class.

The two cannot convince, Berenger even falls heavily through the ice. The only thing that unites them is the screenplay. Narratively also a strange step, because no one can count on sympathy anymore, but oh well. An additional disadvantage is that the approaching climax, which in itself is not very strong, virtually runs out of fuel in this way. Annoying film that is clumsy in character from start to finish.

Not a weak film from Ridley at all! This is one of those films that radiates unity of form, atmosphere, staging and music. Couldn't sleep last night because I drank too much coffee, and was able to watch this classic on the BBC. It is also an attractive story with attractive protagonists: Mimi "ex-Tom Cruise" Rogers as a New York socialite and wealthy heiress who witnesses a murder and must therefore be protected by hunk Tom Berenger, who works from his front porch in Queens. has a view of Manhattan where Rogers lives. A relationship is created based on that primal emotion and function that one person watches over the other: "someone to watch over me" - in other words, a beautiful story surrounding this Gershwin evergreen. Beautiful role by Lorraine Bracco as Berenger's wife who suffers from his relationship. Only the ending is a bit weak and predictable.

Mediocre film about a female witness to a murder who is protected by the police. A rather simple story that does not fascinate everyone and that also becomes quite long-winded. All depicted in a fairly stylish way and Tom Berenger and Mimi Rogers are also well cast. Not exactly Ridley Scott's best film.
