Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid plot

"The hunters will become the hunted."

A pharmaceutical company sends a group of scientists to the jungles of Borneo to search for a rare black orchid. According to legend, this plant holds the key to eternal youth. What the researchers don't know, however, is that the orchids are already being used by dozens of hungry anacondas, which have grown into indestructible killing and eating machines because of the powerful plant.

If the first part scores mainly because it has J-Lo and Ice Cube in the cast, then you can't expect the sequel to be of a high standard. In that sense, he's still the best. It is more of a painful mediocrity than it is really bad. Still, I watched the entire movie with crooked toes at predictable, annoying characters and ridiculous killings. Incidentally, the anacondas in question are quite decently animated. No windfall and no setback, but exactly the misery I had imagined.

You don't get much worse than this, be it in game, direction, image, special effects. Then give your money to a good cause. I also didn't feel anything like a parody. In any case, don't keep my average too high. 0.5*

Saw Anaconda the day before and in my post there I complain about the biological lack of credibility of the film, especially in terms of the aggression and size of the beasts. This film goes into exactly these points: the snakes no longer touch humans when they have already been fed and a rather fanciful explanation is given for the size as well. As far as fantasy is concerned, I can live with it, after all it is film, but it is a pity that anacondas only live in South America, so what are we doing in Borneo, where actually no tigers live (I didn't know that to be honest, and I learned this from the comments here). But to be completely consistently wrong geographically, I think the tigers should have been replaced with jaguars.

In any case, this film seems to be a tad more serious than its predecessor, although in a way the plot is just a copy (a crew member has other interests and willingly sacrifices his colleagues for that.) The acting is very mediocre, especially the captain of the ship sounds very monotonous. But also enough annoyance by the characters. Especially that guy who panics about everything. Unfortunately, he survives the film while I couldn't wait for him to be eaten. Probably because it would have been too much of a good thing to have both eat the black characters, as far as I'm concerned the other would have survived.

All in all, this is just as pulpy as the predecessor. In some respects slightly better, but in other respects worse, so I arrive at the same final verdict: 0.5*.
