Oh, it was a comedy.
It hadn't really struck me, and with all of Ronet's endless rambling there is rather little to laugh about – and it remains just as puzzling why anyone would want to read his books.
BB is good in herself – she acts beautifully and is appropriately funny, and looks delightfully 70s in her mini-dresses. It is a shame that the rest doesn't come anywhere near that level – Ronet is annoying, and the ladies he tells his fairy tales about are beautiful, but they also feel completely disconnected from the story.
About the only thing that appealed to me in the film was the nice shot on the train when BB and Ronet perform their evening ritual. Otherwise, the film is simply uninteresting and very, very long-winded.
