Roughly from the mid-80s onward, there was a wave of something between soft porn and romance, with things like Red Shoe Diaries and countless spinoffs. Zalman King is another name that stuck with me.
This film is a fine, but not excellent, example of that genre. The women are attractive enough, and their performances aren't even that bad. The problem is that there's not much to play, the production values are quite poor, and the story is a complete mess. It's a shame, because with a little more courage and a bit more talent from the director, it could have been much better. But apparently, no one cared.
There are quite a few films in this genre that are much, much better. If only I'd bothered to write down the titles or something...
