Strange Behavior plot

"Town population is down... about six feet"

A number of students are murdered in a gruesome and gruesome manner. Inspector John Brady is charged with investigating this difficult case. So far, the investigation has yielded nothing. Brady has a hunch. He suspects that the perpetrator is a man he knows from the past: the mad doctor Claude Le Sange. He is an evil genius whose theory of human psychological response bears suspicious resemblance to the murders. Although everyone involved is convinced that Le Sange is no longer alive, Brady senses his threatening presence.

As previous comments this movie is great for the first hour with a fantastic build up but towards the end it all kind of falls flat with a hugely disappointing finale. This movie does have some memorable scenes though such as the bathroom scene and the first murder with that weird mask.
Tangerine Dream's music fits the general atmosphere perfectly.
Again, brilliant first hour, extremely weak sequel.

I had no idea what to expect, but when I saw Tangerine Dream appear in the opening credits I knew it would be good in terms of atmosphere. I love this band.

Strange Behaviour has a fantastic dreamy atmosphere that only the 80s could do. Some scenes that would simply degenerate into boring filmmaking without the music of Tangerine Dream suddenly become a pleasure. Proof that music can play an incredibly important role in film.

But even apart from the music, this is a pretty bizarre, but sublime work. The premise is a nice basis for a horror film and Michael Laughlin really gets the most out of it. The mystery is cleverly built up and the film has a strange atmosphere, partly due to the input of a bunch of bizarre characters. Especially the character of the doctor is a creepy apparition that adds a lot to the mystery. But what about a dance intermezzo that comes out of nowhere to a fantastic kitschy number by Lou Christie? Only adds to the bizarre atmosphere. Great, those 80's.

Strange Bejaviour has everything a horror lover could want: atmosphere, mystery, gripping murders, a fascinating script and an excellent soundtrack. I haven't enjoyed a horror film this much in a long time. This is going to be a future favourite of mine. I want a rewatch soon.

4.5*

The first half is good. It quickly becomes clear how and by whom the murders are committed. This also creates a kind of tension in various scenes. Especially the pure randomness of the murders creates the tension and ensures that you do not know who can be trusted and who cannot.

When it becomes clear what is going on, the film is just a bit too long. They could have done better either the "reveal" much later or made the film shorter, but oh well.

Because the film sags a bit halfway through, only 3*. The first half is very strong though!
