I found that last fifteen minutes a real letdown; was *that* really the punchline I had been waiting for for 90 minutes? But there really was no progress in that investigation, and time was running out, so I was already a bit afraid of these kinds of "surprises"... too bad.

A classic psychological nightmare. In Bunny Lake is Missing, Ann Lake moves from the US to England with her young daughter. But as soon as she takes Bunny to school, the trouble begins – as the title suggests, Bunny gets lost, and Ann’s life doesn’t get any easier when the police openly start questioning whether Bunny even exists. The film is actually continuously uncomfortable (and that is meant as a compliment), where on the one hand we learn more and more about dubious landlords, suspicious teachers, strange coincidences, and insinuations about Ann’s mental health, but on the other hand remain in uncertainty for a long time about what is really going on. In that sense, it reminded me a bit of The Turn of the Screw. The cast does a fine job too, and I was quite pleased with the way the plot developed and where enough happened without the mystery disappearing. Until the final resolution came, and I found that quite contrived and disappointing. A shame, but nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed Bunny Lake is Missing.

A good film in which a little girl disappears without a trace and the police question her disappearance. A mysterious story that remains entertaining, particularly because you, as a viewer, are also kept in the dark. Partly due to this build-up, the resolution can never be entirely perfect. Keir Dullea is well-cast and demonstrates this especially during the finale.
