A rainy day, an ignored traffic light. A girl is driven off her scooter. She is taken by ambulance to the hospital where her father is a surgeon. As she fights for her life on the operating table, her father can do nothing but wait. In the hallway he fills the silence of her coma with the revelation of a painful secret. In his mind, he returns to the impoverished suburb of Rome where he met the battered Italia. Despite the contradictions, a torrid passion developed between them that would change him as a man forever.
