Now I'm usually up for a Tennessee Williams story full of heat, booze and noisy Southerners, but this one is really a bit too made and exaggerated and therefore tiring.

With an Anna Magnani who is really out of place in this role with an accent and too clearly raked up American and even a completely insufferable role by Joanne Woodward.

Nice film about a man who wants to start a new life and takes a job in a shop. A dialogue-driven film (it's based on a play by Tennessee Williams). There are certainly some great scenes (especially because of the good actors who know how to give their roles enough). But as a whole, the film is less convincing and drags a bit here and there.
