Immortel (ad Vitam) plot
New York, 2095. The city of New York consists of three different levels. In this metropolis, the Egyptian god Horus, who has crossed the galaxy to find a chosen woman, the blue-haired Jill, arrives. Only in this way can he maintain his own immortality. Horus takes on human form and tries to win over Jill. 99 minutes wasted. Let me start by saying that I love SF, but you can't do this to anyone, can you? "visually stunning movie," it reads on the back of the DVD. Even my playstation (I'm 25, so I'm still talking about the very first version) showed better graphics. The story makes no sense and then I quickly give up. Too bad to forget and what a waste of Thomas Kretschmann's talent.

This one has been here for a while and I finally got around to it. Nevertheless, this is a special film. A mix of film and animation. The backgrounds and vehicles were nicely made, the virtual people were unfortunately very dated. Too bad they didn't just use more real people in the movie, it was already going to make a big difference.
The cast didn't do too badly.
The story itself wasn't that special, but luckily the whole thing didn't get boring.
All in all, worth the effort.

Those who are not familiar with the surreal SF universe of Enki Bilal will not be able to do much with this. While the average comic reader in the 1970s and 1980s was still at Tintin level, authors such as Moebius and Bilal made works that were far ahead of their time. Immortel AD is the film adaptation of the Nikopol trilogy. Futurism and mythology are intertwined. Gods, humans and demigods bump into each other in a story about the blessing of humanity and the curse of immortality... The story is vague at times, unbalanced, sometimes philosophical, but I can't help but notice that the CGI really pisses me off liked it, although there is certainly better on the market. He chose a certain style to give body to his comic book world. After all, isn't it every comic book artist's dream to one day see the fruit of his imagination come to life? While I saw another film of his, Bunker Palace Hotel (1*), as a failed experiment, here he provides a better finish.
