Inspector Georges Vallois is charged with investigating the murder of Parisian nightclub owner Albert Simoni. The prime suspect is Lucky Fridel, a young German woman who has come to Paris to build a career as a singer. Vallois is seduced by Lucky and falls in love with her, despite discovering that she is a drug addict. Determined to prove Lucky's innocence, he learns that whoever is supplying her with drugs is Simoni's likely killer.
