A film from a genre that usually already has to contend with small budgets and quickly outdated special effects. Fortunately, Invasion of the body snatchers takes a different approach. We mainly work with suggestion and the SF has therefore rather become a thriller. Nice build-up of tension with paranoia and a main character that no one can trust anymore. That combined with the typical romance and charm of the 1950s. The remakes should therefore appeal to good actors rather than to modern film techniques.

The film is in good hands with director Don Siegel. Apparently still worked on Casablanca and would later also make classics such as Dirty Harry and Escape from Alcatraz. It's nice how he can make something beautiful with relatively little money, a rather commercial film genre and not too great actors. That still stands right now.

Reasonable.

Not quite right I think. The film really only gets going towards the last half hour, and everything that happens before that is pretty empty. Although the mystery remains well kept, it is never really optimally exciting and sometimes unintentionally comical.

The acting wasn't too good in my opinion. A little too exaggerated, which I mainly try to avoid in old movies. But as the horror KO kicks off again, I wanted to see some more movies that were still on the list.

This movie isn't bad in the end, but it's not really exciting anywhere. While the idea itself is quite intriguing. Unfortunately, too little has been done with it and its implementation is also a bit simple. Especially if the clones have really taken over everyone but 2, then they are still people without anything special. Surely you would add something, such as a neutral look?

Didn't really watch the first 50 minutes. Especially looking at some tension that never really gets off the ground. Some mystery here and there, but nothing uplifting. It's just not optimally exciting. And the acting detracts from that.

But in the last half hour some creepy things come to the fore. The film is a little more grim and a little more exciting and, above all, ends very strongly. It's a shame that the entire first part of the film can't quite match the second.

This one disappointed me a bit. It's mainly a paranoia / suspense thriller that does its job well in that area, but I found the logic of people's actions in response to the ingenious invasion disappointing. eg. when Miles finds the clone on the billiard table, he should of course have sounded the (at least) national alarm right away instead of finally getting up the next day happily as if it was all just a bad dream or something like that.
But towards the end it gets better and more exciting and the logic really matters less. Sit back and enjoy the ride. McCarthy's role and playing are iconic, so I'll throw in a little more.
