La Legge plot

Marietta is Don Cesare's servant and, moreover, the beauty of the village. In the village the men play a dreaded game for power at night. The one who wins may humiliate the others without contradiction. The rebellious Marietta is coveted by the criminal Matteo, who tries to rival Don Cesare. But she herself is in love with Enrico, a penniless engineer who temporarily stays in the village to fill a swamp.
