"Family just isn't what is used to be!"
Elvira's mother announces on her birthday that she is in love again. The new partner is a little younger than herself, born in the Czech Republic, and... it is a woman. Elvira and her sisters do their best to respond in a modern and tolerant way, but it is actually beyond their imagination. The neurotic Elvira in particular gets into a serious identity crisis about her own sexual preference because of her mother's choice. Just when Elvira finally meets a man who could be the one. The sisters soon forget their New Year's resolutions and try to separate their mother from the Czech and vice versa.
