Machssomim plot

The West Bank and Gaza Strip have been under Israeli military control since 1967. More than three million Palestinians live in these occupied territories. When they want to move to another town or city to visit family or to go to work, they have to go through Israeli checkpoints. Director Yoav Shamir filmed what happens at these checkpoints between 2001 and 2003. It became an account of a saddening series of encounters. The overall impression is that of a hopeless situation, in which people are pushed on both sides into a role that leaves little to human dignity.
