Saw it once in the 90s when it was first on TV, I couldn't remember much about it except the Jimmy Looks Twice shooting, the laundry that had big holes appearing through shotgun fire at the time. impresses.

And overall, Thunderheart still makes a great impression with its background of the ill-treated Indians on their reservations. The result is a terribly shabby, hopeless image, a treatment that fills you with horror. And then there are the countless dirty games that are played around something important. A power game over many checkers with a scary redneck thug on one side, lots of innocent people in the middle, and Ray at one point alone as an opponent.

As far as I'm concerned, the film stands out because of its wonderfully mystically played out atmosphere, where Ray, even with an Indian background, imagines himself on another planet. Inhabitants of the same piece of land in that sense, but people could no longer talk past each other and especially not be open to each other's uses as they are now. The atmosphere is great with a beautiful soundtrack by Horner that shows some influences from Patriot Games and In the name of the Rose. And Greene's play in particular is great, although Shepard isn't bad either and Kilmer is decent. Ted Thin Elk is worth mentioning and who else has spotted David Crosby...?

Thunderheart is all in all a really excellent thriller that has an eye for the tragic fate of the average Indian, focuses on a murder but ultimately carries a much larger indictment with it. A more than fine film that makes me wonder why the film scores so low.

I didn't think it was fantastic, but it wasn't bad either. It was original to turn the Indian reservation into its own micro-world in which its own laws and customs apply. Ray Levoi, who has Native American blood, is sent there to solve a murder case of an Indian along with a veteran who already knows the terrain (Shepard). In the reserve, almost everyone is at odds with each other, so the survey does not run smoothly.

It's that gritty thing where Ray gets visions and later in the movie walks over to the side of the Indians that disappoints me here. Look at this, he has rediscovered his Indian identity. Add the wild dog on the passenger seat of his jeep and you'll believe it. When his FBI boss says in the beginning that he checked his family tree and discovered Native American blood, I already knew which way things would go.

It is successfully emphasized that the Indians also have few freedoms in so-called reservations and that the lands actually remain state property.

Nice 90s action movie with Val Kilmer who is still in top shape.

In this he plays a filth with different origins, in which mainly his Indian is the most approachable. This also comes in handy when he has to go to the Badlands on assignment to solve a murder. The victim is an Indian from the local reservation, and Ray's background comes in handy during this mission.

As a semi-undercover, he moves into the reservation and soon has to deal with a Native American sheriff Walter.

(nice role by the way). And not only that. Its color is not so quickly appreciated in the reserve. This is because of both history and that every white person can be suspected of the murder. But in vain. There are also rivals within the Indian tribes.

And so Thunderheart becomes an interesting fact; a kind of traditional murder game disguised as a smooth 90s action movie. The action scenes are well presented and well edited. The environment is also attractive and fits the picture. And not so strange at all: Ray gets an animal friend too.

And that way you have all the ingredients in one.

Great movie.
