Seagal's demise has begun. You can safely conclude that in 2015. After the start of the new millennium, things have gone downhill fast. Seagal still shoots his films here in the United States, but he keeps getting involved with hip-hop artists, none of whom leave a good impression on the silver screen. Those who like hip-hop will find it all fine, but I really hate that music. So in that respect, films like Exit Wounds are already lagging behind. DMX is at least as bad an actor as Seagal, although he still shows how to perform a reasonable action scene. I was equally positively surprised by the presence of Michael J. White, but he only (damn) sticks to gunfights. Another missed opportunity.

Except for the music, the film looks very neat and the pace is reasonable. Fortunately, the misplaced funny scenes are mainly in the beginning. I just can't wait for traffic cop Seagal. The talk club is also a painful moment. Especially when Seagal doesn't get out of his seat. It must all seem frustrated, but I think it's more of a hamburger moment. In any case, Seagal isn't in shape, but at least still doing the action itself here. A tight enough.

The computers turned out to be unaffected by the Millennium Bug, but Steven Seagal clearly did. After 2000 it went steeply downhill with his films, if it hadn't already started in the mid-90s.

This Exit Wounds from 2001 was his last short comeback of any level. With fun action, lots of timed humor and a not bad story. But you shouldn't take this film too seriously either, it's all quite manageable.

Mediocre film in the genre

“None of this Lone Ranger stuff that I keep hearing about.”

Steven Seagal, DMX, Tom Arnold, Anderson, a lot of toughness, beautiful cars, beautiful women and a lot of testosterone, Exit Wounds does exactly what you expect it to do. If you don't expect too much from the story and take the appalling acting for granted, there is still plenty to laugh at so much nonsense.
