"Fashion isn't everything"
On his deathbed, Dad Smellekens asks his son Placide to marry and buy children. Placide, who lives in a caravan, has a problem, however. He considers himself such an ugly bastard and only wants to marry a very beautiful woman. During his search for a woman who meets, Placide is aided by his brother Azère. One day, Placide happens to be walking through a photo shoot for a fashion report. There he meets Sarah, the woman of his dreams. When Placide accidentally ends up on the fashion bill, the public is ecstatic about that weirdo in the photo.

Most viewed Belgian film in cinema until a few years ago, and that is very understandable after watching. A good director, Urbanus, a well-known cast, and a feel-good story. All the necessary elements are there, and yet it is just an average film. With Urbanus in the same role as always, and mediocre acting by the other actors (except for a few).
A must see? No, not that. Very entertaining, though!

The most popular cinema film in Belgium on one film. Bizarre actually, although this feel-good film is intended for a very large audience, from young to old. Been a long time since I saw this again. I thought Hector van Coninx and Urbanus were slightly better, especially in terms of tone (humor and drama) and subject (cycling).
This Koko Flannel is a romcom starring a crazy Urbanus. Here and there some underpants fun, but also some nice and funny scenes. Acting performances certainly not great, although I thought Van Ammelrooy still managed to do well. Flack, Decleir, ... I saw them come out much better.
Remains entertaining and the final show at the castle d'Ursel in Hingene (Bornem) remains nice to see again.

Nice film about a man who sells birdhouses and becomes a successful model by accident. From the same team as Hector and also of the same level. The various commercials that pass by look nice. Willeke van Ammelrooy is well cast, but it is of course Urbanus who largely makes the film.
