Le Bossu plot
"Some things are worth dying for"
Trained in stunts and fencing, Lagardère becomes the guard of the Comte de Nevers in 1699. His cousin is the miserly Gonzague. Nevers learns that he has become a father and plans a wedding with Blanche de Caylus. Gonzague, however, tries to kill Nevers, Blanche and their child and sends some hitmen to do so. While dying, Nevers gives the child to Lagardère and asks him to avenge his death.
