Despite a somewhat lower budget, one that holds its own in the ranks of clumsy action films from the eighties and nineties. Not so surprising. A director with a past as stunt coordinator of, among others, several Walter Hill films and he was involved in Predator. The 'toddler' who spiced up the script is none other than David Koepp, who has since written quite a list of achievements. A buddy film, like so many others back then. In that respect, a bit less sharp than some of the big names, Lundgren obviously doesn't have to rely on that either, but that is made up for by alien scum who also have something to do with drugs. The enormous Matthias Hues leaves an unforgiving impression, it has a number of nice, sarcastic one-liners and a lot of crackling, pure action from back then. And let's not forget Michael J. Pollard. Beautiful figure.

Still many 80s influences in this entertaining action film. The story is very standard, about a tough cop who doesn't care about the rules and has to work together with a colleague who doesn't fit in with him. At least, in the beginning of course. The clichés come at you in abundance, but it delivers an entertaining film. Certainly more than 25 years later.

What definitely gives the film something extra is the supernatural touch, with vague aliens who love our brain juices. The serious tone (apart from a few nice one-liners) doesn't really fit, but makes it all the more fun.

Watched it for the first time today on Blu-ray (in English), but otherwise it's easy to follow, a kind of man who injects himself with drugs and who seems to come from another planet.

Nicely thought out story, a bit thriller-like with plenty of action moments.

This didn't bore me, but this film isn't really of high quality either, a bit of an 80s atmosphere, a bit comparable to Predator part 2.

Just 3 stars.
