Er Ist Wieder Da plot

Former German leader Adolf Hitler wakes up dazed somewhere in the middle of Berlin. Confused, he tries to reconstruct what happened and soon discovers that 70 years have passed since World War II. But what happened to Germany in the meantime? Foreigners everywhere, there is democracy and people pay with the euro, which Hitler does not like at all. Because people think he is a comedian and impersonator, he soon ends up in a TV show as a comedic act.

Much nicer expected.

It has become a film without much line. A film with many ideas, only a few of which really work and a lot of them only half. That means that you continue to look somewhat interested, but you are always disappointed.

The scheme of Hitler in our time is worked out rather dimly during the first hour. The idea is certainly not new (be it cavemen, samurai or historical figures like Hitler), especially a pity that the concept of "Hitler" was not very much done. I expected something sharper there.

The second part then becomes a bit more socially critical, but that too is all fairly flat and meaningless. They're not much more than a few doomsday bloopers, if you want to do something like that (especially in a comedy), do it right.

The film also looks fairly cheap, but not that strange if you also add some hidden camera pranks in between. Just clashes with the rest of the movie. Acting is also nothing to write home about, Masucci still does a good job, but Fabian Busch reminded me too much of the insufferable Joris Linssen and the rest of the cast doesn't add much either.

Somewhere in this film is a nice comedy, based on a nice concept. But there's so much junk over it that in the end it doesn't amount to much anymore. Still a missed opportunity, maybe next time find a better director for this kind of project.

Wonderful movie.

The director of Kriegerin and Humid Streken is now coming up with Er ist Wieder Da... A book adaptation of a book I haven't read yet. (hehe)

What did I actually expect? Well... actually a kind of sketch or dry comedy about Hitler who comes back to life after 70 years in contemporary Berlin. But of course you have to remember that you are not watching such a weak American comedy. Well, well... Hitler is portrayed very nicely here and you would hardly be able to get the evil man from the Second World War back out of it. The man feels alienated... so soon after his awakening. Berlin is bursting with foreigners and tourists... they all have these strange screens in their hands... think they are dealing with some kind of prank when they see Hitler walking there like this... and when the man finds out that 70 years have already passed.

However, Hitler is noticed by a presenter who is about to be fired. Hitler is a great icon to keep his work. They travel all over the country to gather resources for the best possible program. All people think it's just an extra.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the film is at odds with the world of social media. Hitler becomes a true cult hero with his new ideas... And what are the ideas based on? Right... I don't need to say anything more about that.

And in the end, this film is just a hefty kick to today's right-wing fascism. Also nice to run into Geert.

A daring move too... Because in my opinion any joke or mockery about Hitler, SS, or the Second World War is punishable in Germany...

Except this hilarious movie is occasionally extraordinarily funny with a delightful

reborn Hitler who is greatly astonished at the present world and who soon goes to

comes out with his undiminished unsavory ideas, the film anticipates

refined comic but also poignant at a slumbering nationalism that is still present,

and in the long run Hitler even gets the space through the TV to be able to express his pernicious ideas

ventilate. A clown a la Trump in the United States, with a growing popularity and

when the end of the movie isn't funny at all anymore gives you chills.

With many funny situations where at least one is a bit over the top but such

promptly make you laugh too. At least the director seems to be taking a closer look

want to put on the influence of the media for questionable, incendiary politicians. The result

is in any case a downright entertaining and idiotic viewing with this film that you buy

makes you think.
