El Viaje de Carol plot
In 1938, 12-year-old Spanish-American girl Carol travels with her mother to Spain, just during the Civil War. They arrive in Mother's hometown, which the naturally rebellious Carol soon dislikes. When she meets Maruja, the village teacher and learns wise lessons from her grandfather, Carol learns to grow up into the adult world, all the while falling in love with the local boy Tomiche.
