Much better than Eagle Shadow Fist, especially since Jackie Chan is also very much on screen here.

The story is again not very special although I have to say that the changing of Clans at the end is a nice idea. The story was at least a bit fuller than in ESF.
The acting is of course also very mediocre but I don't pay attention to it anymore. As with all Chan films, the fights are the highlight. However, there are so many here that I didn't always pay attention. Especially that fight with Chan against that guy with the sticks really took too long for me.

The best part was when Chan went completely crazy after his mistress died.

Jackie Chan in a more serious role than we are used to from him. The Kung Fu in this film is also more realistic and less over the top. Chan does not shy away from killing someone. The beautiful Nora Miao, who played in Way of the Dragon, Fist of Fury and The Big Boss with Bruce Lee, is also there.

Revisited on the new 4K release from 88Films with DolbyVision.

One of the better films from the Lo Wei period and also the last collaboration before Jackie broke his contract and moved to Golden Harvest. This was filmed in South Korea in early '78, but was only released after the success of 'The Fearless Hyena' ('79), because the studio was in financial trouble.

The fights are even choreographed by Jackie Chan and are a feast for the eyes. Strong role also by James Tien, who regularly worked with Chan in the late '70s, with a good twist at the end. Also strong role by Yen Shi-Kwan, who played the bad guy in The Fearless Hyena. We see Nora Miao as the daughter of the murdered kung fu master, but actually has a meaningless role. It also seemed as if she had no make-up on at all.

The highlight is the last big fight between the two clans. The American music is of course stolen again, and in this case Jerry Goldsmith from 'The Sand Pebbles' 1966 and 'Planet of the Apes' 1968.
