Disappointing Fulci. A miss, especially in the gore department, but it is primarily the excessive use of the color blue that dooms this film. Mediocre.

2.5*

A strange movie where the story has a vague undertone, as hallucinations and reality are constantly alternated. The director ensures that everything is clearly distinguishable, but still falls short in the plot. For example, the subplot involving Kathy's mother is developed very vaguely. For reasons little known, Kathy (Milijana Zirojevic) manages to take over the soul of Eva Gordon (Lara Naszinsky). But does Eva Gordon actually exist? In some scenes, you do notice that Kathy takes over her soul, but on the other hand, the ending contradicts this when both die. I found the kills rather mediocre, but the hallucinations looked good. For example, the scene with the snails was a strong scene, as was the one where Eva enjoys taking a bloody bite during a sex scene with the doctor. The film mainly lacks suspense, and the ending is rushed through too easily. 5/10

The further back in time you go, the better Fulci's films become. Aenigma, which dates back to the late 80s, is therefore not good. A student becomes the target of a cruel prank and nearly dies in a car accident. This intro clearly nods to Carrie, from which Fulci undeniably drew his inspiration. The student is in a coma and takes revenge on the other students. She possesses psychokinetic powers in the form of brainwaves with which she can create illusions for her victims. The scene with the snails and the decapitated boyfriend was quite striking. Furthermore, the characters are completely soulless. For instance, those students seem to think only about getting laid. I think Fulci watched a bit too much porn alongside his directing job. And so, Aenigma has become a weakly acted, low-budget version of Carrie.
