L'Avare plot
A film adaptation of L'Avare (The Miser) by Molière. France, 1668. The wealthy widower Harpagon lives with his two children, Elise and Cléante, in his town house. Driven by the idea that his surroundings could be stealing his money, Harpagon has buried his fortune in the garden. He also hopes that the children will marry a wealthy party. But Cléante, against his father's wishes, falls in love with the beautiful, popular Marianne and Elise falls for the charms of the caretaker Valère, for Harpagon both are unfortunately very poor.
