I only knew Daft Punk by name. I knew it was a popular group, but I generally don't need that. Until last night then. One More Time is such a high school trauma. Sorry fellow users, but I think that's top shelf junk. I already realized in the audio field it was all about that shit and to save myself a long, long sit, I just turned off the sound.

For those who have a more alternative taste and prefer to play something that lives more in the spirit of the animations, I recommend a band like Hawkwind. An album like In Search Of Space or In The Hall Of The Mountain Grill fits much better in my opinion. It's not space rock for nothing. Plus that a band rhymes better with the main characters than a house duo. Maybe I'll get into the mood with this, just like people who appreciate Daft Punk. So that's exactly what I did.

The story and animations are very entertaining. Film and music can also go together in my view. This has been happening for years at the annual Roadburn festival in Tilburg. Although it is more about the music, they complement each other well. Interstella is a fun adventure in which there is clearly agitation against money-hungry record companies. They probably screwed Daft Punk in the past. This is the right way to say it. There are also plenty of bands that have written good songs about it.

Interstella 5555 is of course a real product from Daft Punk and that is where the problem lies for me. With the right seventies hard rock you get a kind of Heavy Metal-like print. In that case I could give four stars, but since I have to rate the real movie, the result is really a lot lower. Even if I could listen to it, Daft Punk really doesn't fit in here at all.

Picked this one up and didn't think it was wrong. An elongated animation video clip with Daft Punk songs. It was striking that there was no dialogue, but it was not disturbing.

The story itself is simple and easy to follow, but it was the animations and music that were the main elements. The best-known and best songs are mainly in the beginning of the film, although there were certainly no bad ones.

I used to like seeing it.

In fact, this is an animated long drawn Daft Punk music video, you can hardly call it a movie. It revolves around the music of Daft Punk and the visual story that is shown is secondary to that. The animation is also very 80's style. I see it more like a Daft Punk promo video than a 'real' movie. The high score of this film (an 8 on IMDb) will come from the fans of Daft Punk I suspect. It doesn't seem very interesting to others. 1,5*
