"The noblest adventure man ever dared!"
Discovery left England on August 6, 1901. Aboard one of the greatest names in Antarctica's history: Robert Falcon Scott. He was the leader of the best equipped scientific expedition to Antarctica at the time. The National Antarctic Expedition, later colloquially known as the Discovery Expedition, had one of its primary goals being to reach the geographic South Pole first.

Good film for its time and still quite enjoyable today, because of the fascinating subject, good cinematographic value and the very deserving acts of the cast, of which only John Mills was really famous.

Reasonable film about an explorer who organizes an expedition to Antarctica. A bit long-winded and the characters are not really interesting. The second half is adventurous and therefore the best. Clearly not entirely shot on location, but it looks fine (especially given its age). A small 3.0 stars.

Unfortunately, the contrast between the recordings on location and the studio work is a bit too great. In addition, it is a fairly uniform story, which mainly relies on the adventure in extreme circumstances. Those diary fragments do put you in a certain atmosphere. And what a terrible anticlimax these men experienced…
Would be something for a modern remake perhaps.
