I started watching this movie without any prior knowledge of the content. And after a while a mild comedy unfolded before my eyes. The first time I see a film by Demy that focuses entirely on that genre and he also wrote it himself. Obviously, Demy isn't the type to write out thigh-bangers. Rather, these are deeply comical situations, although the tragedy is not far away in fact. It also has a high tongue in cheek content. I like all of that, so I really liked this film. Subsequently, not least because the decoration of interiors and characters is top notch - as usual in Demy films. And yes, the luxurious presence of 2 top actors is not to be missed either. It may have been a snack for them, but it gives the film extra appeal. The performance by Mireille Mathieu, who was a top singer in France in those years, is also nice.

Thematically, it is certainly an interesting film. The theme of the blurring of boundaries between man and woman is present in society today more than ever. The 60s and 70s in which Demy was mainly active were, of course, also times when conventions were turned upside down.
